The selection process requires dedication from participants that helps build skills in writing and public speaking, along with cultivating self-confidence. We are extremely proud of Tyanna T., and know that she will represent our organization well at the regional competition.”
– John S. Wellons, President and CEO of Boys & Girls Clubs of Delaware

About Youth of the Year

Youth of the Year has been Boys & Girls Clubs of Delaware’s signature recognition program, celebrating the extraordinary achievements of Club members. Each year, one exceptional young person, chosen from one of our 42 Boys & Girls Club locations, has the opportunity to become National Youth of the Year. The National Youth of the Year serves as both an exemplary ambassador for Boys & Girls Club youth and as a strong voice for all of our young people in Delaware.

The journey to being named National Youth of the Year begins locally and progresses to state, regional and national levels, with an additional military phase for members of Boys & Girls Clubs of Delaware affiliated Youth Centers on U.S. military bases. The Youth of the Year is a program where our Club kids have the stage to highlight their talents and achievements by communicating their hopes and dreams. This program is opening doors to opportunity by boosting potential, building lifelong skills, and encouraging accomplishments. Youth of the Year honorees are exceptional examples of young professionals and living proof that great futures start here.
