More than 300 full-time staff members from across the organization gathered at Bally’s Casino in Dover for our Third Annual Blue Door Summit—an energizing, joyful, and deeply meaningful day dedicated to celebrating our people, strengthening our connections, and investing in our shared commitment to growth.

This year’s event built on the momentum of previous Summits, offering a full day of celebration, professional development, and community‑building designed to honor who we are and who we’re becoming.

Celebrating Excellence

One of the highlights of the day was recognizing two of our most prestigious annual honors:

  • Customer Service Award of the Year, celebrating a team member whose dedication to service stands out across the organization.

  • The Joseph H. Dulin Staff of the Year Award, honoring exceptional leadership, compassion, and commitment to our mission.

These recognitions reflect the heart of our organization and the incredible staff who bring that mission to life every day.

A Day Filled With Fun, Food & Community

No Summit would be complete without a little fun, and this year delivered in full. Staff enjoyed great food, a dance competition, and plenty of laughter throughout the day.

A new major crowd favorite was the branded clothing swap. Team members brought gently used organizational gear and exchanged it for “new‑to‑them” merch, blending sustainability with team spirit.

Purposeful Learning, Powerful Conversations

Professional development remained at the core of the Summit, with a wide range of trainings designed to support personal growth, strengthen leadership skills, and deepen our understanding of trauma‑informed and relationship‑centered work.

Training sessions covered themes including:

  • Trauma‑informed care and equity, including sessions exploring the intersection of trauma, racism, and social media.

  • Leadership development and coaching, offering tools for building leadership pipelines, supporting staff, and fostering positive change.

  • Social‑Emotional Learning (SEL) for both educators and leaders, emphasizing culturally responsive practice and relationship‑driven strategies.

  • Behavioral and classroom management, including approaches to motivational challenges, effective consequences, and building healthier environments.

  • Well‑being and workplace culture, empowering staff to strengthen wellness—both individually and as teams.

  • Organizational insight and connection, highlighted by a CEO Q&A with President & CEO John Wellons.

Each session offered practical tools, fresh perspectives, and meaningful dialogue—reinforcing our shared commitment to equity, compassion, and continuous improvement.

Looking Ahead Together

As the day came to a close, what stood out most was not just the learning or the celebration, but the overwhelming sense of togetherness. The Summit underscored our belief that our greatest strength is our people: the way we support one another, challenge one another, and celebrate one another.

This year’s Blue Door Summit was more than an event. It was a testament to our culture, our values, and our collective dedication to growth. Here’s to another year of impact, innovation, and community!
