Western Sussex Boys & Girls Club Celebrates 25th Anniversary

The Western Sussex Boys & Girls Clubs celebrated their 25th Anniversary on Friday, January 26th, 2024 at the Ross Station Event Center. The event was a celebration of the Club’s countless accomplishments and successes over the past 25 years. The celebration also provided the opportunity for the organization to recognize key community members who played a vital role in these successes; John Burton - First Campaign Chair; John Hollis - First Board President, Joy Oliver - First Youth of the Year, Dave Crimmins, First Club Director, and Senator Thomas Carper - First Honorary Capital Campaign Chair.

The Club has focused on positive actions for youth, and in its first year of operations, the Seaford Police Department reported that juvenile crime dropped 62%. In the past 25 years, the Club has grown to become the leading youth service organization for more than 40,000 youth who have walked through its doors. The Western Sussex Boys & Girls Club has been influential in providing a safe place for youth to learn and grow, develop ongoing relationships with caring, adult professionals; and participate in life-enhancing programs and character development experiences.

“We’re thankful for the last 25 years and the people who have been instrumental in the Club’s positive impact on the Community”, says John Wellons, President & CEO of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Delaware.
