Tyler has been a Club member at Western Sussex Boys & Girls Club since 2013 . Tyler is a senior and will graduate in late Spring 2019. He plans on attending Del Tech to study Early Childhood Education.
“My experience at the Boys & Girls Club has impacted my life in a number of ways. As an adolescent I joined the teen program. I was attracted by the open gym that was taking place, however I learned very quickly that it was more than that. Along with the open gym, they had multiple group “talks” with the other young guys. One example of the group that impacted my life was the Passport to Manhood program. As a young man, this program taught me many valuable lessons that I will carry for the rest of my life. The men at Passport to Manhood also held the other guys and me accountable for every action. When we did something good, they praised us. When we acted wrongfully they corrected our behaviors by providing solutions to improve our behavior. They believed we were capable of doing great things and held us to a higher standard than anyone else would.”
See Tyler compete for the 2019 Delaware Youth of the Year title on April 11.
