Clubs gather in Dover to Honor Volunteers for Annual Volunteer Celebration Breakfast

Written by Mary Kate Benson

On April 26th the Boys & Girls Clubs of Delaware held it’s 2nd Annual Volunteer Appreciation Breakfast at the Greater Dover Boys & Girls Club.  Over 70 volunteers and staff gathered to celebrate and recognize amazing volunteer achievements.

Teen Volunteer Thomas Cael was recognized for his service to the Olive B. Loss Boys & Girls Club.  Sharon Starling was recognized for her service to the Greater Milford Boys & Girls Club and Jennifer Denham was recognized for her service to the H. Fletcher Brown Club.

The celebration was also about recognizing our Community Partners.  Our Community Partners support us in many different ways.  This year both Delaware City Refinery and the Foster Grandparents Program were recognized for their ongoing support.

The last award to be given out was the Robert Bromwell Volunteer Achievement Award.  Robert “Bob” Bromwell, was a former Club kid and long-time volunteer.  This award was made in his name to recognize his ongoing and exemplary dedication to the Boys & Girls Clubs of Delaware.  In order to be eligible for this award you’ve had to serve over 200 hours.

This year’s award was given to Carol Miller, who’s served over 17 years on the Oak Orchard Unit Board and has dedicated herself and her time to the Club in many different capacities.

Congratulations to Carol and all the volunteers who were recognized.   And thank you to all of our volunteers who make a huge impact on our Clubs and for our kids.
