Boys & Girls Clubs – Statement on COVID-19 virus.
Dear Boys & Girls Club Families and Community:
Governor Carney mandated the closing of all childcare facilities and programs. This is part of an effort to focus on providing emergency childcare services to first responders and other “essential” job personnel. Therefore, in keeping with this state government mandate, we will not be able to resume regular childcare services until the ban is lifted. According to Governor Carney, starting April 6 and continuing until the State of Emergency is lifted, child care may only be provided by child care centers and child care homes that have been designated as “Emergency Child Care Sites” by the Department of Services for Children, Youth and Their Families (DSCYF). In order to be an emergency child care site, child care centers and homes must certify that they are only providing child care to children of personnel working for essential businesses, as defined by the Governor Carney’s State of Emergency, and cannot work from home.
The Boys & Girls Clubs of Delaware is elected as an Emergency Child Care Center. Our organization is opening six locations as Emergency Child Care Centers for children of essential personnel only on Tuesday, April 7, 2020. These locations – Clarence Fraim, Greater Newark, Greater Dover, Greater Milford, Western Sussex – Seaford, and Oak Orchard
