MISSION/PURPOSE OF ORGANIZATION:
Smyrna /Clayton Boys and Girls Club is part of a nationwide movement whose mission is to inspire and enable all young people, especially those form disadvantaged circumstances, to realize their full potential as productive, responsible, and caring citizens.
The purpose of the club is to guide young people in making appropriate and satisfying decisions toward their physical, educational, social, emotional, vocational and personal lives. One of the most important things we can give our children is a sense of self- esteem which helps them develop positive values and self respect. The Boys and Girls Club attempts to instill in each member:
A sense of Competence-the feeling there is something youth can do and do well
A sense of Usefulness- the opportunity to do something of value for other people.
A sense of Power or Influence- a chance to be heard and to influence decisions
A sense of Belonging- a setting where an individual knows he or she has a place and is accepted.
