Before & After School
Child Care

Your children deserve the best.

In addition to offering a Before & After School Child Care program at the existing Clubs, the Boys & Girls Clubs of Delaware also formed relationships with the local school districts to offer the program to school-age children in schools. In 1997, the organization opened its first Child Care site at Brader Elementary. Today, there are nine school site locations including Austin D. Baltz, Henry M. Brader Elementary School, Brandywine Springs Elementary School, Brick Mill Elementary School, Highlands Elementary School, four Lake Forest Elementary Schools, Milton Elementary and Woodbridge Elementary School.

As Delaware’s premier child care agency, the Boys & Girls Clubs of Delaware Before & After School Child Care program is very unique in that a full-time, licensed Director and Teachers is employed at each site. Since the program features a structured curriculum, aligned to state standards, they have also extended many schools' exceptional curriculums. The youth programs include:

  • Project Learn

  • Smart Moves

  • Dragonfly Quest

  • Goals for Graduation

  • Enrichment activities (field trips, cooking, art, drama)

The agency has added value to many schools. "As the principal of the Brandywine Springs Elementary School, it has been my privilege to work with the Boys & Girls Clubs of Delaware in establishing a very active before and after school care program called Cub Care," said Buzzy Cooke. "Cub Care is not just a baby-sitting service. It is a program that provides support for students while completing their homework as well as offering special programs in Spanish, drama, health and science. I am privileged to be involved in this partnership with the Boys & Girls Clubs."
